Acupuncture is the gentle insertion. of very fine needles at specific points on the body. This process stimulates movement of energy within the body, allowing natural healing to take place. Acupuncture practitioners are trained to select these points, based on over 3,000 years of experience.
Acupuncture has numerous benefits, including pain relief, stress reduction, improved sleep, increased energy, and enhanced immune system function. It can also help with digestive disorders, menstrual issues, and fertility.
During the initial exam a full health history will be taken. Questions will be asked regarding symptoms, health and lifestyle as well as a physical exam. This information is then organized to create a complete, accurate and comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plan. You will then receive acupuncture treatment which can last anywhere from 30-45 minutes.
Where the acupuncture needle has been inserted, you may experience a vague numbness, heaviness, tingling or dull ache. Sometime people experience sensations of energy spreading or moving around the needle. All of these reactions are good and are a sign that the treatment is working. After treatment you may feel energized or may experience a deep sense of relaxation and well being.

At the core of this medicine is the philosophy that Qi, or Life Energy, flows throughout the body. Qi helps to support and protect the body from illness, pain and disease. The quantity, quality. and balance of Qi hence influence a persons health. There are 14 main meridian pathways throughout the body that the Qi circulates through. Each of those meridians is connected to a specific organ/gland. Meridian pathways transport life giving Qi t. nourish. and energize every cell, organ, tissue and muscle. When Qi Flows freely. throughout the. body, one enjoys good physical, mental and emotional well-being. An obstruction of Qi anywhere in the body can hinder the distribution of the nourishment that the body requires to function optimally.
Physical and emotional trauma, stress, lack of exercise, overexertion, seasonal changes, diet, accidents or excessive activity can lead to a blockage or an imbalance of Qi. When an imbalance occurs, normally the body naturally bounces back, returning to a state of health. But when the disruption of Qi is prolonged, excessive, or if the body is in a weakened state, then illness, pain or disease can start.
